Kalimpong (14)

2009.05.12
Some of the older girls hanging out at the orphanage. The second and third from the left are Rinki and Pinki who are sisters. There younger sister Marina is also at the orphanage (secretly my favorite). Rinki and her dad are visiting the orphanage at the moment, helping them build a new goat house. Sadly though they left the other day before we came back from Sikkim and won't be back for about 4 months so I won't get to see them. Pinki is the oldest girl at the orphanage, she is 17 and will stay there for two more years until she finishes school.

Kalimpong on a wet rainy day before the election, that's a banner for it hanging in the street. Luckily everything went peacefully. The BJP party won this area so I think they are satisfied with that even though they won't get Gorkhaland from it.

One of the roads I take on the way home.

This is a game similar to Hot Potato and in this case, whoever gets stuck with the "hot potato" in this case a balled up rag, has to dance and sing in the middle of the circle. Of course everyone dances and sings along with them, even I had to do a dance, but I had one of the girls teach me a Nepali dance because I couldn't remember any Scandinavian Dances.
